\r\n1\r\n1.Introduction and Description\r\n1.1 Introduction\r\nEvents play an important role in our society. Any happening or an activity can be referred as an\r\nevent. Individuals often find they lack the expertise and time to plan events themselves.\r\nIndependent planners are needed to step in and give these special events the attention they deserve.\r\nIn the current scenario, planning an event requires a lot of patience and hustle bustle right from\r\ndeciding the theme to deciding venue and events. Lots of factors need to be considered while\r\nmaking each decision. Also, once the party is planned lot of on the day issues such as maintaining\r\nlow noise levels after a particular time, or neighbors complaining about the noise levels etc. take\r\nthe fun out of the party/event. To manage such issues, we require an easy-to-use app that will help\r\nin effectively tracking such problems. In this research work, we are going to make use of the smart\r\nphone through which the event management is made feasible with the help of a customized android\r\napplication.\r\n1.1 Necessity\r\nNowadays event management is becoming more popular as there is less time for the people to\r\norganize all the events on their own. Everybody needs extra hands to arrange their events. From\r\nbirth to death there are many events that you need to arrange and organizing it properly is a task\r\nthat needs lots of attention. To organize it properly you need to plan all the events. Not only\r\nplanning well is going to help, but you also need to execute all that on time and with the expertise\r\nto make your event successful. In the process of execution, you need to coordinate with many\r\npeople.\r\nIf the events need to plan by experts so, that they can be executed properly, or else you are going\r\nto lose your money and time over nothing. Event planners are becoming more and more popular\r\nin our life. They have working procedures but if you add software to that then it will make them\r\nmore efficient and productive. The event planners can get the assistance of the software and it\r\nmakes their work easier. It will plan full events accordingly and you just need to follow the plans.\r\nIf there was an unfortunate occurrence, then it will also help you by suggesting the solutions to the\r\ncurrent situation.\r\n2\r\n1.2 Objective\r\nThe main goal of the project is to create an event app where event organizer can create events via\r\nvendors or without vendors and people can Subscribe events, where vendor can provide services\r\nto event or event organizer and create their own services, bid on event then organizer can approve\r\nany of the bids which he/she likes, app provides easy way to chat with each other like vendor can\r\nchat with organizer for negotiation for the prices of services or user can chat with organizer to get\r\nmore information about events\r\n3\r\n2.Literature review\r\n2.1 Event App\r\n2.1.1 Definition\r\nA conference app, also known as an event app or meeting app, is a mobile app developed to help\r\nattendees and meeting planners manage their conference experience. It typically includes\r\nconference proceedings and venue information, allowing users to create personalized schedules\r\nand engage with other users.\r\n2.1.2 Problem\r\nCurrently Event Management system is manual and only accessible to staff. The client must travel\r\nto the company offices to schedule, book and organize an event such as Birthday Party, Marriage,\r\nReception, Ring Ceremony. Clients pay cash to book for an event which is inconveniencing when\r\ncustomers are many at the company. It takes lots of time of customer because they must search\r\nsuch event organizer and contact them individually so an online event management system is\r\nneeded which will enable the customer make booking, schedule events online at any preferred\r\ntime.\r\n2.1.3 Benefits of Event\r\nThe potential benefits of hosting major events from the perspective of the visitor economy include:\r\n1. Structural expansion of the visitor economy: Visitors coming to a city or region for an event\r\nwill contribute to a more buoyant economy, with visitor expenditure having a multiplier effect on\r\nincomes throughout related supply chains. With the multiplier effect the host destination shall\r\nbenefit in terms of employment, income, and better standards of living.\r\n2. Alignment of tourism with other strategies: The requirements of hosting a major event can be\r\nused to, promote an integrated whole-of government approach, and maximize synergies between\r\nrelevant development and growth infrastructures constructed for events are one of the most visible\r\nlasting legacies for a host city or region and can have real impacts for tourism growth.\r\n4\r\n3. Marketing and promotion: Pre-event branding associated with the successful hosting of a major\r\nevent, can provide lasting recognition of destination branding in key tourism markets, encourage\r\nreturn visitation of attendees or participants, and a better understanding of the focus of the event\r\nsuch as sport, arts and culture, food etc.\r\n4. Environmental impacts: The international focus often associated with major events can help to\r\nprioritize work on an often under-developed or neglected built environment and therefore the\r\nattractiveness and competitiveness of destinations. In addition, ensuring that events are managed\r\nin an environmentally friendly manner is also becoming a high priority in terms of branding.\r\nA positive legacy can encourage community and stakeholder support for an event, represent a\r\ntangible return on investment, or justification for public expenditure. However, to achieve a\r\npositive result requires strategic planning well in advance of the event, adoption of a long-term\r\nperspective and evaluation throughout the event lifecycle, from inception through to the post-event\r\nperiod. Any infrastructure\r\n2.2 Technologies\r\n2.2.1 MERN Stack and What is MERN Stack?\r\nMERN stands for MongoDB, Express, React, Node, after the four key technologies that make up\r\nthe stack.\r\n• MongoDB - document database\r\n• Express JS- Node.js web framework\r\n• React JS- A client-side JavaScript framework\r\n• Node JS - The premier JavaScript web server\r\nExpress and Node make up the middle (application) tier. Express.js is a server-side web\r\nframework, and Node.js the popular and powerful JavaScript server platform. Regardless of which\r\nvariant you choose ME(RVA)N is the ideal approach to working with JavaScript and JSON, all\r\nthe way through. [5]\r\n5\r\n2.2.2 How does MERN Stack Works?\r\nThe MERN architecture allows you to easily construct a 3-tier architecture (frontend,\r\nbackend, database) entirely using JavaScript and JSON. [5]\r\nFigure. 2.1 MERN stack Working [5]\r\n2.2.3 React Native and React JS as Frontend\r\nThe top tier of the MERN stack is React.js, the declarative JavaScript framework for creating\r\ndynamic client-side applications in HTML. React lets you build up complex interfaces through\r\nsimple Components, connect them to data on your backend server, and render them as HTML.\r\nReacts strong suit is handling stateful, data-driven interfaces with minimal code and minimal pain,\r\nand it has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a modern web framework: great support for\r\nforms, error handling, events, lists, and more. [1]\r\n6\r\n2.2.4 React JS Features\r\nJSX:\r\nJSX stands for JavaScript XML. It is a JavaScript syntax extension. It’s an XML or HTML like\r\nsyntax used by ReactJS. This syntax is processed into JavaScript calls of React Framework. It\r\nextends the ES6 so that HTML like text can co-exist with JavaScript react code. It is not necessary\r\nto use JSX, but it is recommended to use in ReactJS. [1]\r\nComponents:\r\nReactJS is all about components. ReactJS application is made up of multiple components, and each\r\ncomponent has its own logic and controls. These components can be reusable which help you to\r\nmaintain the code when working on larger scale projects. [1]\r\nOne-way Data Bin:\r\nReactJS is designed in such a manner that follows unidirectional data flow or one-way data\r\nbinding. The benefits of one-way data binding give you better control throughout the application.\r\nIf the data flow is in another direction, then it requires additional features. It is because components\r\nare supposed to be immutable and the data within them cannot be changed. Flux is a pattern that\r\nhelps to keep your data unidirectional. This makes the application more flexible that leads to\r\nincrease efficiency. [1]\r\nVirtual DOM:\r\nA virtual DOM object is a representation of the original DOM object. It works like a one-way data\r\nbinding. Whenever any modifications happen in the web application, the entire UI is re-rendered\r\nin virtual DOM representation. Then it checks the difference between the previous DOM\r\nrepresentation and new DOM. Once it has done, the real DOM will update only the things that\r\nhave changed. This makes the application faster, and there is no wastage of memory. [1]\r\nSimplicity:\r\nReactJS uses JSX file which makes the application simple and to code as well as understand. We\r\nknow that ReactJS is a component-based approach which makes the code reusable as your need.\r\nThis makes it simple to use and learn. [1]\r\n7\r\nPerformance:\r\nReactJS is known to be a great performer. This feature makes it much better than other frameworks\r\nout there today. The reason behind this is that it manages a virtual DOM. The DOM is a crossplatform and programming API which deals with HTML, XML or XHTML. The DOM exists\r\nentirely in memory. Due to this, when we create a component, we did not write directly to the\r\nDOM. Instead, we are writing virtual components that will turn into the DOM leading to smoother\r\nand faster performance. [1]\r\n2.2.5 Express and Nodejs Server Tier\r\nThe next level down is the Express.js server-side framework, running inside a Node.js server.\r\nExpress.js bills itself as a “fast, unopinionated, minimalist web framework for Node.js,” and that\r\nis indeed exactly what it is. Express.js has powerful models for URL routing (matching an\r\nincoming URL with a server function), and handling HTTP requests and responses. [4]\r\nBy making XML HTTP Requests (XHRs) or GETs or POSTs from your React.js front-end, you\r\ncan connect to Express.js functions that power your application. Those functions in turn use\r\nMongoDB’s Node.js drivers, either via call-backs for using Promises, to access and update data in\r\nyour MongoDB database. [4]\r\n2.2.4 MongoDB Database Tier\r\nIf your application stores any data (user profiles, content, comments, uploads, events, etc.), then\r\nyou’re going to want a database that’s just as easy to work with as React, Express, and Node. [5]\r\nThat’s where MongoDB comes in: JSON documents created in your React.js front end can be sent\r\nto the Express.js server, where they can be processed and (assuming they’re valid) stored directly\r\nin MongoDB for later retrieval. Again, if you’re building in the cloud, you’ll want to look at Atlas.\r\nIf you’re looking to set up your own MERN stack, read on! [5]\r\n8\r\n2.2.5 Why MERN Stack?\r\nLet’s start with MongoDB, the document database at the root of the MERN stack. MongoDB was\r\ndesigned to store JSON data natively (it technically uses a binary version of JSON called BSON),\r\nand everything from its command line interface to its query language (MQL, or MongoDB Query\r\nLanguage) is built on JSON and JavaScript.[5]\r\nMongoDB works extremely well with Node.js, and makes storing, manipulating, and representing\r\nJSON data at every tier of your application incredibly easy. For cloud-native\r\napplications, MongoDB Atlas makes it even easier, by giving you an auto-scaling MongoDB\r\ncluster on the cloud provider of your choice, as easy as a few buttons clicks. [5]\r\nExpress.js (running on Node.js) and React.js make the JavaScript/JSON application MERN full\r\nstack, well, full. Express.js is a server-side application framework that wraps HTTP requests and\r\nresponses and makes it easy to map URLs to server-side functions. React.js is a frontend JavaScript\r\nframework for building interactive user interfaces in HTML and communicating with a remote\r\nserver. [4]\r\nThe combination means that JSON data flows naturally from front to back, making it fast to build\r\non and reasonably simple to debug. Plus, you only have to know one programming language, and\r\nthe JSON document structure, to understand the whole system! [5]\r\nMERN is the stack of choice for today’s web developers looking to move quickly, particularly for\r\nthose with React.js experience.\r\n2.2.6 MERN use case\r\nLike any web stack, you can build whatever you want in MERN - though it’s ideally suited for\r\ncases that are JSON-heavy, cloud-native, and that have dynamic web interfaces.\r\nA few examples might be Workflow management - News aggregation - To-do apps and Calendars\r\n- Interactive forums / social products – Management Apps -Dashboards [5]\r\n9\r\n3. System Development\r\n3.1 Requirements\r\n3.1.1 Event Organizer\r\nThe event organizer will have various roles as he will be the event creator. He can add an event,\r\nedit an event, or even delete an event. The event organizer can do the following tasks / can have\r\nfollowing options i.e. (The Main Tasks)\r\n1. Creating an event i.e., Event Name\r\n2. Entering the location of event (Country / State / District / City / Building / Floor Number / Pin\r\netc. it will cover all the minute details, so it becomes easy for the event members to join the event\r\nwithout wasting a single time to locate the event\r\n3. Event Type – Public / Private\r\n4. Private Event: Add mobile numbers, Emails, etc. so an SMS will be sent to mobile numbers to\r\nregister/subscribe real-time notifications for the event.\r\n5. Public Event: Anyone can join this event and all the members who have registered will get the\r\nnotification\r\n6. Event Organizer can change the events privacy from public to private and an\r\n7. Notification will be sent to registered users about any minute change in the event i.e., time,\r\nlocation, live stream etc.\r\n8. Users can contact the event organizer via SMS, Notification, Alert, Call\r\n9. User then can create a custom feedback form for the event\r\n10.Another option of ‘Allow vendors to contact you’ will be given to the organizer where it will\r\nbe yes by default\r\n11.A wizard will be given which will have tags regarding the main course of the event so that the\r\norganizer will get suggestions based on that\r\n10\r\n12.If the organizer is satisfied with the service of the vendor or if he likes the service, then he can\r\ndirectly pay the vendor and hire him with our integrated payment gateway.\r\nFigure 3.1 Create Event\r\n13.If the vendor sends a service request to the organizer, then the organizer can confirm that request\r\nor he can bargain on that.\r\n14.After the completion of event the organizer can give ratings to the vendor\r\n11\r\n15.Cost approximation will be shown before the and after the bid i.e., how much is the estimated\r\ncost for the event\r\n16.Billing Enable/Disable will be there if the organizer directly wants to pay the vendor through\r\nthe app.\r\n17.If billing is enabled then multi-level billing option will be given i.e., it’ll have all the things\r\nrelated to payments Pending payment, Final Settlement, Reports etc.\r\n18.Past events and upcoming events will be shown in the app for organizer\r\n19.There will be an option to create a group chat for event subscribers on the organizer dashboard\r\nwhen he creates the event\r\n20.Organizer can set maximum attendees / Maximum subscribers\r\n21.Event has started or not will be shown in home screen\r\n22.Contact list for private event\r\n\r\n3.1.2 Vendors\r\nThe vendors are those people who will provide services to the event organizer. The vendors can\r\nhave following options\r\n23.Type – Individual / Proprietorship / Partnership / Pvt. Ltd etc. another option will be given to\r\nenter the type.\r\n24.Entering the location of the vendor (Country / State / District / City / Building / Floor Number\r\n/ Pin etc. it will cover all the minute details, so it becomes easy for the event organizer to contact\r\nthe vendor.\r\n25.A form will be given which will consist of ‘contact number’, ‘email’, ‘services offered’ services\r\noffered which will have ‘type’ and ‘sub type’, ‘price for the sub types and total price.\r\n26.Dynamic discount option will be given to the vendor\r\n12\r\n27.Free Registration will be given, and currency will be shown as per the country added\r\n28.Searching of vendors\r\nFigure 3.2 Create Bid\r\n3.1.3 Users / Event Subscribers\r\nUsers are those entities who will have access to the event i.e., event members The users can have\r\nfollowing options\r\n1. Users will be given a form which will have name, mobile number and some other fields.\r\n13\r\n2. They can view all the other events which are taking place in their locality\r\n3. They can search a particular location and events 4. Users can register for a particular event with\r\njust one click and will get dynamic notifications\r\n4. They can access live stream just like YouTube live streaming\r\n5. They can view all the notifications for the registered event i.e.., change in time, location etc.\r\n6. They could send a private message to the event organizer if its allowed by the organizer\r\n7. After the end of the event users can provide the feedback for the event\r\n8. Notifications will be provided for every change or update in the event, confirmation of services\r\netc.\r\n9.If the event is public then the users can directly join the event. If the event is private, then they’ll\r\nget an invitation to the event\r\n14\r\n3.2 User Interface Design\r\nFollowing figures are included to showcase the user interface of Event Web App\r\nFigure 3.3 Home page\r\nThis is the landing page which the user will see after authentication. This is called home page\r\nwhich includes all nearby events under 3km radius and filter based on users’ choice. The left side\r\nmenu represents all the activities user can do such as event creation, subscription, handling bids,\r\nchats and my account which is similar to my profile.\r\nTalking about functions on home page, basically user can search event by name or filter event\r\nbased on some options like nearby events, new events, oldest event etc., In the bottom right corner\r\nthere is a button that can take user to create event form, the form first proceed with location of\r\nevent on the map then name, description, start time, end time, private or public options and some\r\n15\r\nservice tags all these inputs should pe fill by organizer after submitting the form event will create\r\nand can be visible to nearby by user to its location\r\n\r\nFigure 3.4 Profile\r\nThis page is called as my account which has ‘my approvals’ which consist of all the bids which\r\nare approved by this particular user, next comes my services this includes all the services which\r\nare added by this particular user, he can also add services from there, next comes my groups which\r\nhas all the groups added by the user, this groups will be utilized or used inside event creation page\r\nwhere we require a group while creating a private event because private event requires mobile\r\nnumber so it’ll take all the mobile numbers which are present inside the group.\r\nNext is find vendors tab which has all the nearest vendors. User can search for vendors based on\r\ncity name, after search vendors will be displayed on the screen with their services and rating so\r\n16\r\nuser can figure out which vendor is best for a particular event or a service after that button in the\r\nbottom right corner will make the profile page editable so user can update inform\r\nFigure 3.5 Reminder\r\nThis is reminders tab which has all the reminder and notifications received by this user, Reminders\r\nwill be displayed with their heading and description text and time, so user can easily understand\r\nwhat it says.\r\nReminder will be shown to user if a particular event updated or deleted by organizer or if a new\r\nevent is created than a notification will be send to all user inside a certain radius of area with\r\nrespect to event location and there is button to every notification if clicked then a particular\r\nnotification will be deleted for that user but that data will not be removed from the database on the\r\nleft side vertical menu bar the notification tab will be shown with badge with numbers these\r\nnumbers represents how many notification are there in the notification tab\r\n17\r\n Figure 3.6 Create Event\r\nThis is event creation page which has various fields such as name of the event, start date and time,\r\nend date and time, description, event address, public or private event, if private event then it asks\r\nfor the mobile numbers of users whom organizer want to invite to this particular, so they’ll be\r\nautomatically subscribed to this event. Next comes limit subscriber toggle which will limit the\r\nsubscriber to subscribe a public event. Last section is of the event organizer which includes name,\r\nphone, address of the event organizer. It includes\r\ndata inputs and outputs, data stores, and the various subprocesses the data moves through.\r\nBasically in our event app the main process is to create event so firstly event is to created by user,\r\nthen user can do some process like update, read, delete, all the outputs from these process are then\r\n22\r\nstored in the mongoDB database, as soon as event is created then a reminder is created and sent to\r\nselected user and that reminder are also get stored in mongoDB database, after the second process\r\nis that the vendor available on the system creates bids and similarly notification is created, send ,\r\nand stored.\r\nVendor can update, delete or read their bids on a particular event, however user can also save a\r\ngroup of contacts in our app so it will be easy for user to add or invite that group to an event, and\r\nabout vendors, they can add their services with description, prices, quantity these services then\r\nstored in database after that vendor can update, read, or delete that service\r\n3.3.3 Use Case Diagram\r\nDiagram 4.3 Use Case Diagram\r\n23\r\nAbove use case explains the user’s possible interaction with our system, Event app consist of\r\nthree main actors\r\nThe basic user can login, then subscribe an event, chat with other user or organizer and able to\r\nsearch events or filter events, however the main role of organizer is to login, create event, chat,\r\napprove bid, search event, search vendor, and for vendors is to login, bid services, chat, search\r\nevent\r\n3.3.4 Classes and Objects\r\nDiagram 4.4 Classes and Objects\r\n24\r\n4. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION\r\nThere are a lot of reasons we might want to evaluate a Software, checking out a competitor, or\r\ncomparing e-commerce platforms. No matter the reason, there are a few key metrics we need to\r\nassess across the site.\r\nWe conduct performance testing to ensure that an application will run smoothly. Metrics are those\r\nindicators that help to identify performance of our system\r\nUptime:\r\nEvents API’s downtime was 1 day since past 3 months. While one of the most basic metrics,\r\nuptime or availability is the gold standard for measuring the availability of a service. Many\r\nenterprise agreements include an SLA (Service Level Agreement), and uptime is usually rolled up\r\ninto that. Many times, you’ll hear terms like triple 9’s or four 9’s which is a measure of how much\r\nuptime vs downtime there is per year.\r\nAPI Response Time:\r\nThe time that passes from the moment a request goes to the server and until the last byte is received\r\nfrom the server is called response time. This metric is measured in kilobytes per second (KB/sec).\r\nEvent App Average Response Time: 1.3KB/sec\r\nResponse time is the amount of time a system takes to react to a request once it has received one.\r\nFor example, the time between the instant we execute an API, and this API returns the result of its\r\ncomputation, that’s the response time.\r\nLatency\r\nEvents API has very low latency, in simplest terms this is Remote Response time. For instance,\r\nyou want to invoke a web service or access a web page. Apart from the processing time that is\r\nneeded on the server to process your request, there is a delay involved for your request to reach to\r\nserver. While referring to Latency, it’s that delay we are talking about. This becomes a big issue\r\nfor a remote data center which is hosting your service/page. Imagine your data center in US and\r\naccessing it from India. If ignored, latency can trigger your SLA’s. Though it’s quite difficult to\r\nimprove latency it’s important to measure it.\r\n25\r\nCPU\r\nCPU usage is one of the most classic performance metrics that can be a proxy to application\r\nresponsiveness. High Server CPU usage can mean the server or virtual machine is oversubscribed\r\nand overloaded or it can mean a performance bug in your application such as too many spinlocks.\r\nInfrastructure engineers use CPU usage (along with its sister metric, memory percentage) for\r\nresource planning and measuring overall health. Certain types of applications like high bandwidth\r\nproxy services and API gateways naturally have higher CPU usage than other metrics along with\r\nworkloads that involve heavy floating-point math such as video encoding and machine learning\r\nworkloads.\r\nServer Request Per second:\r\nA client application forms an HTTP request and sends it to a server. The server software processes\r\nthis request, generates a response, and sends it back to the client. The total number of consistent\r\nrequests per second is the metric we are interested in – requests per second (RPS). These can be\r\nrequests for any data source – HTML pages, multimedia files, JavaScript Libraries, XML,\r\ndocuments, etc.\r\nEvent App Request per Second on Heroku: 10,000 requests/second\r\nThese requests can be scale based on our requirements\r\nAPI Error rate:\r\nThis metric is calculated as the ratio of invalid to valid answers over a period. The results are\r\ncalculated in percentage. The errors usually occur when software load exceeds its capacity\r\nError rate on production: 99%\r\nAPI usage\r\nFor many product managers, API usage (along with unique consumers) is the gold standard to\r\nmeasure API adoption. An API should not be just error free but growing month over month. Unlike\r\nrequests per minute, API usage should be measured in longer intervals like days or months to\r\nunderstand real trends. If measuring month-over-month API growth, we recommend choosing 28-\r\n26\r\ndays instead as it removes any bias due to weekend vs weekday usage and differences in number\r\nof days per month. For example, February may have only 28 days whereas the month before has a\r\nfull 31 days causing February to appear to have lower usage.\r\nNodejs as a Server\r\nThere are many benefits of using Node.js. While most of its users mention the advantages related\r\nto the development process, such as increased developer productivity, improved developer\r\nsatisfaction, and reduced development cost. Half of the respondents of Node.js 2017 User\r\nSurvey noticed improved application performance in comparison to other solutions.\r\nFigure 4.1 Nodejs Performance [7]\r\nWhat's more, the perceivable benefits have been growing over time. The survey shows that Node.js\r\nusers that worked with the technology for more than two years appreciate its impact on app\r\nperformance ten percent more often than developers who have used it for a shorter time.\r\n27\r\nFigure 4.1 Nodejs Benefits [8]\r\nHere are some reasons why the value of Node’s performance snowballs over time:\r\n1. Node.js is good at multitasking. It is single-threaded, non-blocking, and asynchronous.\r\nTherefore, it can process multiple tasks concurrently in one thread, instead of queueing\r\nthem.\r\n2. Node.js works on the V8 engine that is used in Chrome. V8 is the fastest JavaScript engine.\r\nGoogle develops Node.js, so it increases the chances it will be well supported in the\r\nforeseeable future.\r\n3. Node.js does not weight down the server when many requests are sent.\r\n4. The technology enables the app to handle much more requests at the same time than other\r\nanother solution.\r\nAPI\r\nShould you spend more money on your product and engineering or put more money into growth?\r\nRetention and churn (the opposite of retention) can tell you which path to take. A product with\r\nhigh product retention is closer to product market fit than a product with a churn issue. Unlike\r\nsubscription retention, product retention tracks the actual usage of a product such as an API. While\r\nthe two are correlated, they are not the same. In general, product churn is a leading indicator of\r\nsubscription churn since customers who don’t find value in an API may be stuck with a yearly\r\n28\r\ncontract while not actively using the API.
